Many of our members must have been hoping for almost any good news from Scotland in the troubling times we are living through. Although there is still some very minor "snagging" work for the contractors to finish off, I am very happy indeed to report, somewhat belatedly, just such a good news item. Phase 2 of the repairs to Struan Kirk was essentially completed this Spring.

Iain Reid, chosen unanimously by Council, has taken over the position of Vice Chair.

Many of our members have I’m sure been wondering when they would see another update on repairs to Struan Kirk. Donors to the Society’s Kirk fund are no doubt anxious to see some concrete evidence that the funds are being spent, and of course spent to good purpose. The Council is delighted to report that The Rt. Hon. Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, KT, GCMG, PC, FRSA, FRSE has accepted the Society’s invitation to be our new Hon. President.
The Council is very happy indeed to report that another long-standing and well known Clan Donnachaidh Society member and distinguished Officer, Andrew Duncan, has accepted the title of Honorary Vice President.
As already intimated by her to all Clan branches over the past year, our IVC, Christy Duncan Lange, will complete her 9th year as a Council member this year.
Our Chairman has asked that members be informed of the death a few weeks ago, after a long illness, of Sir Alexander "Sandy" Reid, Bt.
John and Janet Duncan have agreed to serve as Journey Home Consultants for the Clan Donnachaidh Society.
I’m sure that all Clan Society members, especially those who have already contributed to the Kirk, are still contemplating doing so, or may be thinking of doing so either a second time or on a more regular basis for the future, have been wondering about progress made by the Struan Kirk Trust since the purchase went through last August.
